I have owned the 436 for years and also bought all three dmr, provoice, and nxdn directly from my.uniden.com, is that still an option for the sds100? I have had lots of scanners in my time. The old scanners worked fine with a amplified speaker plugged in the headphone jack. The micro can be used to power only. The mini powers and will charge simultaneously if enabled. There's no issues I found plugging in both while charging or not.The message says that my SDS100 is up to date. It has firmware 1.10.00 and sub version 1.02.01. The Sentinel update to 2.03 went fine and now has the new tuning steps for custom searches, but I don't have any need for them. If it makes any difference, I updated Sentenel first.These are listed here as well. Since the introduction of the BC250D scanner Uniden has used a standardized 12-digit serial number protocol as follows: 383Z88123456. The overwhelming majority of Uniden scanners are sold and used in North America. That is what determines the system types and features. However, after a couple lengthy trips to Uniden Repair, I was given a factory refurbished unit as a replacement to my original. The factory refurb unit exhibits none of the original VHF/UHF issues.The refurb unit is actually better than my x36 ....
